hey, my name is matthias.

i create paintings, sculptures, and drawings that center on the corporeal and the intimate. i choose materials that highlight the slow and caring craft as much as the subject itself -- whether that be wood, stone, clay, oils, charcoal, or a range of other natural material.

distractions are easy to come by. my pieces are rabbit holes into my mind that spin and spin in and spin out and bring me closer to center. they're experiences and existances that can hold a physical mark. it's labor, exploration, meditation, emotion, discovery -- from my distractions, i find my soul. a soul that pulses///shifts///grows.
